Frequently Asked Questions

No referral is required for most services. You can book directly through our online system.

Not at this time. We operate on a private-pay basis. Under the Health Insurance Act, R.R.O. 1990, Reg. 552, NPs cannot bill OHIP for fee-for-service assessments. Many extended health benefit plans cover NP services — please check with your provider.

Standard hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM for both in-person and virtual visits. Virtual after-hours and weekend appointments may be available based on mutual availability — please contact us to arrange.

New patient visits are typically 45–60 minutes. Follow-ups are 20–30 minutes. We pride ourselves on unhurried, thorough care.

Photo ID, your Ontario health card, a list of current medications, and any recent lab results or medical records.

Yes. All virtual appointments use our PHIPA-compliant Accura EMR platform, fully protected under Ontario's Personal Health Information Protection Act.

How do I book an appointment?

You can book online through the booking page or contact the clinic directly. For urgent or emergency concerns, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.

Yes. Virtual care is available for appropriate concerns, including follow-up visits, medication reviews, select mental health concerns, and care planning.

What should I bring to my visit?

Please bring your medication list, relevant medical history, recent lab or imaging results, allergy information, and any forms you need reviewed.

Are services covered by OHIP?

Avicen Health operates on a private-pay basis. Some services may be eligible for reimbursement through extended health benefits, depending on your plan.

Can I receive prescriptions or referrals?

When clinically appropriate, NP-led care may include prescriptions, requisitions, referrals, education, and follow-up planning.

Is medical aesthetics suitable for everyone?

A consultation is required to review goals, medical history, contraindications, expectations, risks, and treatment options before any aesthetic procedure.

Personal health information: name, date of birth, health card number, health history, diagnoses, prescriptions, and treatment records. Contact details, appointment history, payment information, and website analytics.

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide and coordinate health care; communicate regarding appointments and care plans; comply with legal obligations; process payments; and improve our services.

3. Disclosure

We do not sell your information. We share only with health care providers involved in your care; Accura EMR (records provider); and regulatory bodies as required by law.

4. Data Retention

Health records retained for minimum 10 years from last service, or until age 26 for minors, per College of Nurses of Ontario standards.

5. Your Rights

Access your information, request corrections, withdraw consent, and file complaints with the IPC at www.ipc.on.ca.

Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of avicenhealth.ca and services provided by Avicen Health, an NP-led clinic in Ontario, Canada.

1. Nature of Services

Services are delivered by a Registered Nurse Practitioner licensed with the College of Nurses of Ontario under the Nursing Act, 1991, S.O. 1991, c. 32 and Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991, S.O. 1991, c. 18. Services are private-pay.

2. Not An Emergency Service

For life-threatening emergencies, call 911 immediately. Do not use this website to seek emergency care.

3. Fees & OHIP

Services are not covered by OHIP under the Health Insurance Act, R.R.O. 1990, Reg. 552. Fees are collected at time of service. Extended health benefits may apply.

4. Hours & Availability

Standard clinic hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM. Virtual after-hours and weekend appointments are available by mutual arrangement and are not guaranteed.

5. Cancellation Policy

24 hours notice required to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations may incur a fee.

6. Virtual Care Scope

Virtual care available to Ontario residents only. By booking you confirm you are physically in Ontario at time of appointment.

7. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and Canada.
